The client generally dictates the timescale of a project. If you have a deadline in mind we will endeavour to meet it. The most common delay in the creation of a site is waiting for contents (text/images.. etc) to be sent to us by the client. Once received we can conclude a within two weeks.
+ I would like siteXcel to design my site, what do I need to do now/what is the process?
You will need to complete our online form, which can be found on our "Form" page. Once received we contact you to review the proposed project with you.
+ What is a Doman Name?
A domain name is an identification label to define a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the internet, based on Domain Name server (DNS).

+ Am a newbie do I need to buy a Domain Name and Hosting?
Yes, this is the starting point.
You definitely need a Domain Name and a Hosting account which you have to purchase from those specialised in them. At siteXcel, we design your website and manage it upon request. If you know what you are doing you can surf the net for a provider. Make sure you are buying from a reputable company though; the problem is not with the purchase but after service support.
To reduce unnecessary preambles, we generally recommend using siteXcel to sort this out for you; however the choice is strictly yours.
+ What is a Domain Name Server DNS?
This is an internet system that relates domain names into IP addresses. DNS can be considered something similar to a phone book. When you move from one location to another, your name stays the same, but your phone number may change. In order to point your name to the new phone number, you must contact the telephone service provider so they assign you the new phone number and update all directory information to reflect you as pointing to this new phone number. In this way, the IP address can be compared to a phone number: When someone calls http://www.example.com/, your ISP looks at the DNS server, and asks how do I contact example.com?
The DNS server responds: It can be found at 198.105.232.4. As the Internet understands it, this can be considered the phone number for the server, which houses the http://www.example.com web site.
+ How much will it cost to design a website?
The cost to design a website varies, depending upon the type of website you require.
A sitexcel basic site will cost approx £350, a simple ECommerce site is from £950, a complex ECommerce site/Database Driven site is from £1500+.
Obviously each site has to be treated on its individual requirements, but these figures should give you an idea of a ballpark figure. We request a 50% deposit in all cases and will consider taking payment by instalments if requested.
Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer or paypal. The only ongoing cost will be your annual hosting fee and content management service (CMS) which is £150 p.a. if you opt for that.

+ Custom Web Design, what is it?
These are web design templates, a generic template where your contents and graphics are loaded on any available template. They have limited functionalities and this makes them less expensive. The downside is, as with anything, you get what you paid for "cheap design" and you get to share that design with many other companies since its widely avaiilable.

Upon receipt, this will be acknowledged. We will then mail you back promptly with an idea of price/timescale and any suggestions with regards to your project.

+ Do I need to send a deposit?
Yes we generally ask for a 50% deposit from clients depending on type of project. You will be notified of when to pay once we accept your project. Payment can be made directed to our specified bank account or online using a credit or debit card but we prefer PayPal.
+ What about Customer Support?
siteXcel has a team of dedicated, friendly, highly skilled customer and technical support staff ready to assist you. Our phone or email support makes asking questions easy. In addition we provide life support to all our clients. If you have a question, we have your answer in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
+ What is FTP?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a method of transferring files (web pages for example) from your local PC to your web server.
There are a variety of free ftp software programs available on the Internet and they enable you to update your website pages at any given time. When a hosting package is purchased on your behalf, ftp details, consisting of the host name, User ID and password are sent to us.
Upon completion of the website and receipt of payment for any work carried out, we then send these details to the client.
+ What is Optimisation?
All web pages should be optimised. This will enable your site to gain a high search engine ranking. It revolves around the meta tags on your web pages, a web page that isn’t optimised won’t appear in the search engines to any great degree.
